On 28 April 2026, ESDEV Foundation Africa, in collaboration with Palm University College and the PQI – Portuguese Quantum Institute, hosted the World Quantum Day Youth Outreach Programme in Accra. The event marked the inauguration of Ghana’s first university-based Quantum Club at Palm University College, alongside the official launch of the Quantum@School Ghana Project.
The Quantum@School Ghana Project is inspired by the internationally recognised engagement model of the PQI – Portuguese Quantum Institute, and is designed to catalyse national and international ecosystems that advance quantum awareness, learning, mentorship, and career pathways. Within this framework, Palm University College serves as the founding institutional node, anchoring the national movement and positioning Ghana as an active participant in the evolving global quantum ecosystem.
The keynote talk, “The Revolution of Quantum Technologies”, was given by Professor Yasser Omar, President and Scientific Coordinator of the PQI – Portuguese Quantum Institute.
The new Quantum Club at Palm University College introduces a sustainable, student-led ecosystem that promotes peer learning, mentorship, innovation, and outreach to schools, cultivating a new generation of quantum-aware learners and future innovators.
